Our trip on Winni last month (July 2022) with Michael was exceptional. I say that not just because we caught some big smallmouth (and the weather was perfect!), but because it was a real pleasure being guided by Michael. I didn’t know what to expect when I booked the trip, as Michael (in his mid-20’s) was very young from my perspective. (This is from someone who is over 50, and who has been passionate about fishing almost since he could walk . . .) But I learned a bunch of new techniques for catching fish, and he was the consummate professional — he seemed like he had been doing this for decades. And he was a very smart, fun guy to spend time with on the lake. In short, I had a great time and look forward to going with Michael again, next time with my kids!

If you've looked at reviews on this site you obviously have read about the expertise Mike brings as far as his knowledge of fishing on Winni is concerned. The reviews are not over inflated. My girlfriend and I went out with him this past weekend (Sept.'23) and he lived up to and surpassed his previous reviews. His equipment (boat/electronics) are top shelf and his quality tackle is problem free. He put us on fish immediately and my girlfriend (who is not an angler) was soon catching so many fish you would've thought she was on a tuna boat!!! I was fortunate to catch a fair amount of fish as well and was able to bookend the trip w/ a 6lb. Largemouth and a 3lb. Smallie. All the while Mike was willing and able to share tried-and-true tricks w/ us about technique, tackle, and presentation as well as the natural beauty of Winni. All in all an absolutely great time on a beautiful September morning. Talked to him about scheduling a trip next year for some topwater action. If you charter w/ Mike you will not be disappointed- a first-class act

This was the best fishing experience of my life. When the fish weren't biting initially, Mike used his lake knowledge to move us to a better spot, and suggested we switch baits. Once we were on the fish, it was nonstop action. We probably each ended up with 20 fish, and I've been thinking about it ever since. Mike was a great guide, and kept conversation flowing. We were out celebrating my younger brother, and Mike fit right into the group, as if he'd been our friend the whole time. I didn't realize this when booking, but he baited our hooks every time! I wasn't expecting it, but he was much quicker than we were, so it took any friction out, and let us get right back to fishing. He also watched my hookset a few times when I missed fish, and knew to sharpen my hook. I'd normally just assume it was my fault on missed fish, but he had the experience to see what I couldn't. After sharpening, I didn't miss another fish all day!
